Castlleton Cricket Team, 1940's

'The cricket ground at Sparth Bottoms was known as the Gentlemen’s Club. We used to spend Saturday afternoons watching the cricket, we were allowed to watch as long as we were quiet. The gentlemen were all dressed in striped blazers and the pavilion was very grand. My dad was an umpire at Castleton Cricket Ground, and I was allowed to play there later. When I was 16 I played for the first team.'
